Senior Healthcare Advisor
Kevin Scanlan is a nationally recognized healthcare leader with over 38 years of healthcare leadership in the metro Chicago health care market. Known for his innovative management style and team building skills, Scanlan spent 26 years of his career with the Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council (MCHC), a membership and service organization representing over 160 health care organizations in the greater Metropolitan Chicago area. He oversaw programs and services that generated more than $30 Million annually. Scanlan served as President/CEO of MCHC for 10 years before retiring at the end of 2014.
MCHC’s programs and services include the Illinois Poison Control Center, the MetroChicago Health Information Exchange (HIE) and the initial sponsorship of Illinois’ only Consumer Operated and Orientated Health Plan (CO-OP), Land of Lincoln Health (LLH), offering over 100 unique health plans for consumer and business throughout Illinois on the State Health Benefits Marketplace (GetCovered Illinois) and private exchanges. Mr. Scanlan served as the Chairman of the Board of LLH.
Throughout his career, Scanlan always had a keen interest in Workforce Development. Under his leadership, MCHC was one of the primary sponsors of Instituto Health Sciences Career Academy (IHSCA), a charter high school in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood.
Kevin serves on a variety of Boards, including the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health, the Civic Federation of Chicago, the Chicago State University Community Advisory Board, the Chicago Health Executives Forum, the University of Illinois at Chicago Masters of Health Administration Advisory Board and the Delta Dental Foundation.
Since his retirement, Mr. Scanlan volunteers at the Instituto Health Sciences Career Academy and St. Laurence High School (his alma mater). He also volunteers at the Chicago City Colleges (he is a graduate) on their Reinvention program, consolidating health career programing from all 7 campuses into the Malcolm X campus which opened a new start-of-the-art campus facility in 2016. Kevin currently serves as a Senior Health Care Advisor and Mentor for Patina Solutions, a full service consulting firm offering a wide range of services to multiple industries.
Mr. Scanlan hold a bachelor’s of science degree in education from Chicago State University and a Master’s of Science in Management, with high honors, from the National College of Education, where he was honored as the Alumnus of the Year in 2009. In 2012 he was honored as one of the 30 Over 30 Alumni in Action of the University. In 2012, Mr. Scanlan was honored by the Rainbow Push Coalition with the Quentin Young Award for Healthcare Excellence. . In 2012, Mr. Scanlan was honored by the American College of Healthcare Executives, receiving their Regents Award for Healthcare Leadership. In 2016, Kevin was honored as the Alumni Professional of the Year by St. Laurence High School.
